Game icons include Zeppelin, radio, Red Baron, planes, targets, and medals. The other icons are instead more traditional symbols. The graphics and animations are of the highest level and give an authentic atmosphere to the game. Technical Features. Aristocrat’s Red Baron online slot machine has 5 reels and 243 paylines.
His legacy was cemented among slots fans when Aristocrat Gaming opted to use his image and activities as the core feature of what went on to become one of their most popular slot titles – Red Baron. When coming up with a slot layout and design based on the Red Baron, Aristocrat had a number of opportunities to explore.
Red Baron Slot Machine Free Play – Probability in casino games: real money vs virtual money. Posted on March 4, 2021. How do you beat the slots?
This game is not only the title of this Aristocrat’s video slot machine but is also the name of a well-known national hero from World War I. Red Baron was a pilot who has won over 80 air combats and the machine is devoted to him and every aspect of the war such as the sky background, the airplane, target, and medal icons along with the pilot. The Red Baron Slots. The Red Baron is a dastardly slot machine from iSoftBet, paying homage to one of Germany’s greatest pilots, possibly of all time. During his career, Manfred von Richthofen, aka the Red Baron, was successful in over 80 inflight battles. His string of victories having earned him the title that has been used ever since.
Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen, also known as Red Baron, was a German fighter pilot during World War I. Being a tactician and a fine marksman, qualities which he demonstrated in 80 (officially reported) combat victories, made him one of the most famous fighter pilots ever.
Red Baron Game
The curious nickname was given based on his nobility title Freiherr, which translates as Baron, and the colour he painted his aircraft.
This smart and courageous pilot has inspired Aristocrat to develop the Red Baron slot machine with a unique mechanism which, combined with mission-based free spins rounds, promises to deliver exciting gameplay and allow you to handsomely benefit from spoils of war.
Activate Reels Instead of Paylines
You may notice something unusual as soon as you launch the Red Baron slot game. Instead of asking you to select the number of pay lines, you’ll be prompted to choose a number of reel positions to activate on non-active reels, thus increasing the ways you can create winning combos.
Only the middle of 3 rows always plays no matter how many reels have been selected. Your total bet will equal the reel cost, ranging from 1 to 25, multiplied by the bet, allowing you to spin for as little as €0.01 and for up to €50 per round.
The Red Baron and his trusted aircraft are two highest-paying game icons; land 5 of either on a pay line and you’ll collect a hefty 1,500x your line bet. Baron’s sweetheart is next in line, followed by a zeppelin, a dog (the Baron’s pet?) and an old-style radio.
Wild Iron Cross appears only on the middle reel to do the job of the substitute, and what is unusual is that it will also take place of the Scattered Target. Wild icon additionally multiplies the prize by x2, x3 or x5 each time it helps create a winning combination while you’re spinning for free.
Choose Your Own Mission
Scattered Targets have to land on reels 2, 3 and 4 in order to launch the feature consisting of 15 free games and a mission. The latter is a matter of choice. One will multiply your free game wins by x10 provided you collect 4 or more planes. Another will boost them by x15 for 8+ planes, and the third will provide x25 multiplier when you score 12 planes or more. The fourth one offers x60 multiplier for 16+ planes, and the fifth will require that you bag at least 20 planes to get a massive x140 win boost.
Proving yourself to be as skilful as Red Baron himself and collecting as many as 25 planes will deliver a multiplier of x40 as a bonus, regardless of which mission you have initially selected.
Aristocrat never fails to include the opportunity to double or quadruple the prize multiple times, and they’ve done so by introducing the Gamble feature which uses the familiar “guess the card colour or suit” mechanism.
What makes Red Baron Slot machine so special?
The Red Baron was an infamous flying ace of WWI, and being the history buffs we are we can’t help but be drawn into a theme like this. He was one of the most prolific pilots of the great war racking up scores of hits and one but can’t help but hope that this success will cross over to this slot when playing.
Symbols from the great war abound but it the unusual representation of the Red Baron icon that succeeds in creating a mood of mystery cast as he is in a red shadow.
The mystique crosses over to the gameplay which is rather uncommon and needs time to understand fully.
Basically, the unique aspect of the mechanics of this game, the selection of the reels to spin, is something that sets it apart immediately from many of its competitors. This, combined with its look and feel, creates a one-off experience that is hard to resist not trying at least once to see how it all comes together.
Even the bonus feature that is triggered by the target scatters is slightly different. Yes, you get 15 free spins, but you also get a mission to accomplish and revolves around collecting plans where the more you can get the higher the multiplier will be up to a top level of 140x.
Lastly, just to add one more ‘he who dares wins’ aspects to the game is the extra gamble feature to add even more multipliers for the lucky punter.
Sometimes when a developer comes up with a new idea it can feel gimmicky and can easily fall flat. Not so with Red Baron slot where the unusual style of play matches perfectly with its bonus features and multipliers to create something a little bit special that has proven popular with gamers for years now.

World War One fighter pilots are not usually the subject of choice for online slots – least of all German ones. Well, the Red Baron breaks the mould, focusing on Manfred Richthofen, reportedly the best airborne ‘ace’ of any nation at a time when people were fighting in biplanes. Top winning online casino. This slot is mostly the plain and simple fare you might expect from Aristocrat. At the same time there are a couple of interesting additions, in the form of ‘missions’ and the 243-ways ‘reel power’ setup.
The graphics are very blocky and plain, all with retro images of the time such as a wooden radio cabinet and target. These really feel like they were just transplanted from an old mechanical slot. Simple upgrades for the design would make a big difference to this and to many other Aristocrat slots. Other than some music during the intro and special sounds during the missions game, the beeps and clicks are from the same library as the other Aristocrat slots. At least the missions, which gives you points for each plane collected (shot down) gives the Red Baron something different. You will have the potential for a big pay-out, especially with the front view of the biplane sometimes appearing stacked on the reels.
There are no win-lines in the Red Baron. This uses the ‘Reel Power’ system, which lets you select the number of reels to play and then allows all combinations from left to right (starting in the left hand reel) to be winning lines. It makes little sense to reduce the reels for this, which gives you 243 potential winning combinations for each spin. This will result in a lot of wins on occasion, especially when symbols are stacked. You can spin for 20c in this game, right up to $100. Two symbols share the top spot in terms of the pay-outs. These are a portrait of Richthofen himself, and his red plane. You get 1500 coins for 5 of either – though the Red Baron himself is just ahead with 1000 coins for 4, compared to 500 from the plane. The portrait of a lady, barrage balloon, dog and then the radio make up the rest of the unique winning symbols, playing cards are also included. There are two special symbols. The first is a medal, which only appears on the middle reel. This doubles any win it is a part of. It substitutes for everything, including the scatter / bonus symbol. Targets kick of both the mission and free spins games; these appear on the middle 3 reels only.
There are two interlinked features, both of which kick off when you hit 3 of the target symbols in the middle 3 reels (or 2 and the wild (medal)). First you get a ‘mission’. Here you choose from a higher number of planes with a big multiplier of your triggering win, or a lower number with a smaller multiplier. As the bonus round plays, you collect planes. The concept here is that you can take a smaller win regularly, or gamble and go for a bigger one. Whichever option you choose, if you go get 25 or more planes during your spins, you get 40x your triggering bet. The free spins has no different symbols or multipliers, the medal (doubles wins) is still involved on the reels, and the 243 ways setup can potential give you a lot of winning combinations.
This is actually quite an entertaining game to play, though the graphics and sounds are really not designed to help. The smaller number planes for the missions seemed very easy to complete (your mileage may vary obviously). This extra feature did add an extra element to the game which is missing from a lot of the Aristocrat slots. With a graphics brush up, this could make the grade as a slot to recommend.
